Dan A. Asonye is an associate attorney whose practice spans the full spectrum of labor and employment law. Dan joined the firm in 2019 as a law clerk and now represents clients in all phases of employment litigation and counseling in state and federal court, as well as before administrative agencies.

Dan has broad and hands-on litigation experience, routinely managing cases from inception through trial and appeal. He drafts and responds to pleadings, handles full discovery—including written discovery, ESI, third-party subpoenas, and depositions—and litigates contested motions in both state and federal court. Dan has participated in jury trials, prepared witnesses and exhibits for trial, and delivered oral argument before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. His appellate work includes briefing complex employment-law and whistleblower issues.

Dan's substantive practice includes employment contract disputes; discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims; and whistleblower matters involving Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, IHRA, FSMA, and wage-and-hour laws. He also litigates civil-rights claims under 42 U.S.C. § 1981, 1983, 1985, and 1986, as well as common-law torts such as retaliatory discharge, assault, battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and gender-based violence. His practice also includes matters involving LGBT and gender-based employment matters.

Dan appears before numerous administrative bodies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Illinois Department of Human Rights, Cook County Commission on Human Rights, Chicago Commission on Human Rights, and the U.S. Department of Labor. He guides clients through investigations, fact-finding conferences, mediations, settlement negotiations, administrative hearings, and trial proceedings.

Kelechi Asonye is an employment attorney at Asonye & Associates and focuses on client representation in employee and employer matters such as: Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 claims, Section 1981, Section 1985 /1986 of Civil Rights law under the U.S.C. Code, Illinois Human Rights Act (IHRA), Whistleblower Claims, Retaliation, Discrimination branching into racial, gender orientation, pregnancy status, religious, age and disability status; perceived or otherwise, harassment, racial and sexual harassment, wage disputes, hostile work environment, Emotional Distress, Gender Violence, Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and other work place accommodation request issues, contract, severance and general legal document review.

Gail received her Bachelor of Science in Commerce from DePaul University. Her Major was Accountancy, with a Minor in Computer Information Systems. Gail has several years of experience as a Manager and Consultant for such companies as Price Waterhouse, and Computer Language Research/Research Institute of America.

Sedenia Johnson is the Officer Manager at Asonye & Associates. She has earned her Associates in Applied Science with her major as a Paralegal from Northwestern College in 2009. Sedenia is currently a member of Alpha Beta Gamma, a Business Honor Society.

She currently assists all staff members with various legal tasks and other administrative duties. Sedenia dedicates herself to the law firm of Asonye & Associates and continues to enhance her life activities and education.
